Texas Hold'em, Online
As you might expect, there's a very big difference when you play Texas Hold'em online if you've been playing it at a land-based casino. Like banking and shopping, several factors were removed but a greater number were retained in the transition from the physical to the digital. So which one should it be: play Texas Hold'em online or play it at a land-based casino? There's no easy way to answer that question because it will all depend on you and the user experience that you're looking for.
Land-based casinos offer what can be called the 'authentic' experience because it has all the factors that helped popularize Texas Hold'em. The dealer's right there in front of you, shuffling the deck for everyone to see that there's no hanky-panky going on. Your opponents are all there at the table and, if you can do it, you can 'read' your opponent's hand from his or her expression.
However, land-based casinos tend to be crowded. Unless you play at really large casinos like the ones on the Strip in Las Vegas, you're bound to line up to get a seat at the table on a busy night. Sitting at a casino chair for long periods of time might not be for everyone too. Card counting, especially for beginners, is much more difficult at a physical game because you obviously can't write down or otherwise take note of the game without being conspicuous.
When you play Texas Hold'em online, on the other hand, you lose some of those physical aspects for many other features. For example, the very nature of the game means you get to play Texas Hold'em online anytime and anywhere you want. Most online casinos also provide in-program features like game logs and opponent stats to make it easier for you to keep track of the game. Because you do away with many physical constraints, you can play Texas Hold'em online at several tables, something you're not able to do when playing in a land-based casino.
There were a lot of changes done to Texas Hold'em when it went from floor space to cyberspace, but many of them were aimed towards giving you and every other poker player in the world a better playing environment. People who play Texas Hold'em online find that the digital version of the traditional game gives them more flexibility with regards to their playing style, in addition to offering them more freebies and promos.
If you're looking for a new experience or simple one that's more comfortable and that allows you more options, you should probably try to play Texas Hold'em online. Who knows, you just might like it.
